Tesla News: https://news.oxo.world

⁣Two people were killed in an accident involving a Tesla electric car in the southern Chinese province of Guangdong on November 5, 2022.
Surveillance footage showed the Model Y vehicle pulling over to apparently park when it suddenly accelerated and took off.
Other cameras captured footage of the car speeding along roads for about 2 km (1.2 miles) before crashing.
The car manufacturer has denied claims that the brakes failed, but agreed to cooperate with the police investigation.

TESLA CRASH VIDEO - https://news.oxo.world
Tesla has had numerous complaints about this for years. It's not just Tesla but almost all car manufacturers have had this problem at some point. With traditional cars (I don't know how EVs handle this) it happens sometimes when the brakes are pressed when the car is shifting gears. There could be other causes bit that is one that has been documented to cause this. Ford had a big case where this happened and they said that it was drivers fault but had to settle because it was an undeclared fault that they knew about.

I would not trust any diagnostics of any self assessment of a car company when a fatality is involved. Whether tampered with or faulty readings, they are biased.

If you play the video at 0.25x speed you will see at first he was applying the brakes to stop at the side (brake lights on). Then as it started speeding off, you see the brake light going from on-off-on as he tried to stop it. Then all the way as it sped along you see the brake lights on.
The driver has a case on this one, but if telsa really has no issue then they need to provide more data like how much brake was applied vs accelerator and how brake light was on according to their initial data.

Could easily be an aftermarket floor mat that the pedal got stuck on. They should make it easier to turn the car off to prevent stuff like this. I'm not exactly sure how the gear shifter works but I doubt you could throw it in reverse or park while it's moving which would have helped in this situation.

Wow. How unfortunate. My deepest condolences to the victims. If proven, Tesla owes millions to the families and individuals affected. Looks like they're putting out faulty systems and that's unacceptable. Would love to trace the manufacture location of the faulty parts from this crash and figure out where in the manufacture process this occurred and why.

I remember there were some cases with conventional cars accelerating uncontrollably. The fault in those cases was found to be the driver's floor mat. The mats had lifted up and rested on the pedals. So when the drivers thought they were just pressing on the brake they were actually pressing the accelerator too. I'm not saying that's exactly what happened here but that there are unexpected possible causes too. Hence the need for a full investigation to find out exactly what went wrong.
